Cornish Prairie Front Garden

A large 60's front garden, transformed from bare lawn, to a vibrant, flowering garden.

Underplanted with bulbs, this garden attracts a range of pollinators throughout the year.
The clients asked for a vibrant, colourful garden that was in the prairie style.
The northerly, sloping exposed site, was gently terraced with access pathways to create large planting areas that could be easily gardened. The planting is designed to create habitats and attract pollinators, as well as withstand blustery wind and rain in our Cornish climate. This summer has been very dry and the garden has not been watered and the planting has been designed to flourish without irrigation in dry summers. Log piles add habitats, and seedheads stand into early spring providing hibernacula for dormant insects.
