Thames Estuary Garden

This westerly facing garden slopes away from the terraced property. The garden was neglected and unused.
The client wanted a low maintenance, garden to sit out in, and enjoy the views and the sun. They wanted to add a summerhouse and planting but, were very nervous of gardening and were at the beginners stage!
The design created a low maintenance gravel garden, with strips of planting that would fuse together across the slope. Black Millboard decking was installed to create a small raised platform for seated estuary views. Gentle steps lead down to the garden with a seating area that looks across the estuary and the far reaching views. Salt resistant hornbeam hedging has been planted along the perimeters to create a natural fence screening. It also divides the garden from the summer house and another lower seating area. Local flint gravel was used to echo the local shoreline.
